Privacy
Your privacy is important to us. However, It is difficult for HannibalCam.com to invade anyone's privacy as it is located is in a public forum, in a very public place. HannibalCam.com will attempt their best to not show people that appear to have secluded themselves in a place or manner where they can reasonably expect privacy. The "tort of intrusion upon seclusion" is important to us, and we mean to adhere to it. We would not show the interior of a residence or house-boat exposing the occupants.
Your Rights, our Rights
The public has a right to their privacy. When subjects leave the privacy of a secluded area, they relinquish that right in a certain way. The quality of the image broadcast often does not reproduce an identifiable face to be later recognized. The camera view is shown live as-it-happens, and the high vantage point of the camera decreases the chance of exposing the privacy of a subject or group of subjects considerably. We have the right to record an image in a public place*. The HannibalCam is our way of exercising that right in a positive way.  The location of the camera is not hidden. The camera does not disrupt wildlife. We do not have the right to record audio at the scene, nor do we intend to. *The de minimis use doctrine.

Images are taken live, and therefore do not constitute as making a copy. The video is used as a tourism incentive, and not to reproduce what is viewed on screen.

For legal questions or privacy concerns please contact us. If you would like to request that the camera not show a choreographic event or political person at a particular time, please let us know in advance, and we will avert the camera.
