HannibalCam is a new website brought to you by local businesses in the local area. We are dedicated to helping our growing community in new and fun ways. HannibalCam is a great way for those planning on visiting to see for themselves what a great town Hannibal, Mo really is.
Bold and green. The HannibalCam is bold and green in that we are helping to push the creative envelope and have fun in new and very different ways. There are many uses for the HannibalCam, even to check the local weather conditions!
The camera is a high-tech speed dome mounted on the roof on Main Street. The camera uses a 540TVL 1/3"CCD imaging device with 36X optical, and 12X digital zoom. The camera's location really is in the heart of historic Main Street! The camera is color during the day, and black and white at night to allow more light in, and therefore a better night-time image. The robotic HannibalCam has the ability to pan, tilt, and zoom in on: street vendors, shoppers, car shows, parades, festivals, etc.
The video feed is uploaded to
the ustream.tv servers, and from there, rebroadcast to
www.hannibalcam.com for your viewing
pleasure. This means we have unlimited bandwidth to share, and there are no
limits on the number of simultaneous viewers. The image is not the best, but the
ustream.tv service is free. In the near future, we would like to move over to a
higher bandwidth service. Adding additional cameras is also on our wish list.
The time of day you view the camera can determine how clear of an image, and
what there is to see. The best time to view is mid-day when the camera has
plenty of light, is in color, and there is someone at the Kitchen Store to
operate the camera. For the absolute best picture, you need to stop by the Main
Street Kitchen Store downtown at the camera location. There is a large TV
mounted where anyone stopping by can check it out. Either way, we hope you like
it.
